Port Hills Bridge, Christchurch
SCIRT has been repairing the bridge piers for the Port Hills road overpass in Christchurch. Concrete Solutions® was tasked by Fletcher Construction with the structural confinement of the supporting piers. Structural repairs to the bridge piers was required before the FRP system could be applied, this was achieved using an Epoxy injection system MC-Injekt 1264 Compact and strengthening was completed using Tyfo® SCH-41 Carbon on the ten bridge piers for confinement. The completion of the project is expected for February 2015. The completion of these repairs is vital for the rehabilitation of Christchurch’s infrastructure following the Canterbury earthquakes and ensure a longer lifetime use for the bridge in future seismic events.
