Handing Over of the Reins

Handing over the Reins

After twenty four years it gives me great pleasure in handing the reins over to Ryan Cudby, General Manager of Concrete Solutions® Ltd.

Ryan has been my Concrete Solutions® Ltd business partner and also good friend for over eight years. During this time Ryan has been heavily involved in all aspects of the business, and has been instrumental with companies ongoing success.

I am leaving the company knowing that it has been left in “a safe pair of hands”.

I wish Ryan along with the rest of the Concrete Solutions® team the very best for the future, and would also like to thank everybody for a fantastic journey along the way.

Best regards

Neil Chevalier

The Orange Concrete Solutions Bus.

When I was around five or six the men in my street helped each other to build sections of their houses. I loved to help them and I wanted to be just like them one day. The thought of working with others to build or fix things always appealed to me.

More than forty years later I find myself the driver of the big orange Concrete Solutions bus with a fantastic team of people on board who have helped to make Concrete Solutions the great company that it has become – a respected construction problem solving company. I would like to sincerely thank not just the people on board the bus, but also all those people who have contributed to the company including clients and suppliers.

During this time we have truly done amazing things together and accomplished heights that other organisations can only dream about. When I cast my mind back to the first projects that we carried out at the National Library Building using at that time state-of-the-art technology from MC, to the Whanganui Hospital, Auckland Civic Theatre, NIWA Buildings, Arapuni Dam and Peter Jackson’s residence in Matahiwi. To more recently the Canterbury rebuild effort, Broken River MID Rail Bridge strengthening, Waterview Tunnel (the sealing of the biggest tunnel in the southern hemisphere), James Cook Hotel (NZ largest Fibrwrap project to date), Matarangi Volcanic Facility Mt Ruapehu (at 2,700m high possibly the highest concrete repair carried out in NZ). These projects seem now to be more like adventures than just jobs. – these projects have covered the length and breadth of New Zealand.

Over the past twenty four years I have driven the bus past a particular shop front which has got my curiosity. The front signage simply says “LIFE” with a whole lot of captions in the window of the different things that I would like to either do or catch up on.

I have decided that this time around is my time to get off the bus and see what is inside the shop. Although I am torn and sad, I am at the same time excited about my decision. This I know will give the team at Concrete Solutions the opportunity to take the company from its current platform to greater heights.

I am therefore handing the bus keys over to Ryan Cudby and hope that you will all give him the same support that you have given me over the years. Ryan is an extremely capable person and a very good driver.

My last day at Concrete Solutions will be on Thursday the 6th July.

Again thank you all for a fantastic journey along the way.

I would like to sincerely thank not only my team but also our clients, suppliers and friends for whom without their support my journey would never have begun.

Yours sincerely

Neil Chevalier
