James Cook Hotel Carpark, Wellington
Contracted by Hawkins Construction for the structural upgrade of the James Cook Hotel carpark in Wellington, Concrete Solutions® was sub-contracted to fulfil the FRP installation. Tyfo® SCH-41-2X was used due to the high tensile modulus and strength required by the engineer, it is twice as thick as standard Tyfo® SCH-41 carbon fabric. Tyfo® was applied to interior shear walls and SCH Anchors were used to improve force transfer and end details. The scale of the project and commitment by engineers to ensure the FRP application’s effectiveness resulted in continual extensive testing throughout the project. As part of Concrete Solutions®’s commitment to following international standards and practices, Tyfo® FRP systems are preferred due to CodeMark compliance; it is proof of compliance to relevant NZBC requirements. Unlike other FRP systems, all Tyfo®wet lay materials have a CodeMark Certificate.
